Courting Greta took me all of a day and half to finish. I just couldn’t put it down. I’m discovering that this author writes about the true love stories no one ever hears about. The good, bad and ugly. Samuel on crutches and Greta your buff gym teacher. Both have scars but yet they find one another and the true definition of love. I love it!!! When there was pain I felt their pain. When they were heartbroken I felt it as well. It’s refreshing to read a true original love story rather a cute girl meets a girl cute guy. The supporting characters were great as well. I look forward to read more from this author.

This is a heartwarming story easy to identify with. The people have problems that they have overcome and they are complex characters. I would recommend it to anyone as a friend recommended it to me. I plan to keep it and re read it at a future date. I'm a retired teacher and felt like I knew the people too.
Kinda quirky but a good read
Imagine being a sub and walking into a classroom of high schoolers who have been allowed to goof off for way too long! Then imagine being a person with a low confidence level. Add in a disability and an unexpected romance. Hootman gives a contemporary love story where the non-traditional couple characters are well rounded and believable. Her style of writing gives the reader insights to character thoughts as well as conversations. Add it all together for a great read!
I read a decent amount of books. Two a week on average. I can say with confidence that I have never before read a book like Courting Greta. The characters were relatable, their surroundings tangible and their pasts just as dysfunctional as the rest of ours. I enjoyed watching their broken, hope filled relationship take shape and am looking forward to reading Surviving Cyril, the newest book by this author.
It's not your typical romance. In fact, I wouldn't really call it a romance, but it is about 2 people falling in love. The characters are 100% believable. I read it quite some time ago already but somehow it has remained with me and I find myself still thinking about it occasionally. Get yourself a copy and you won't be sorry!
Really enjoyed this novel. The characters were inscrutable, flawed, tragic, passionate and endearing. Read on one day. Hope there are more works by this author. Really makes you aware of how difficult living with handicaps can be, both socially and physically.
Courting Greta is the first book of Ramsey's that I have read ... it will not be the last. I loved the feel for the characters that she gave me, even the characters that I didn't necessarily care for. Good story, good characters, good flow, and good writing - everything that I hope for in a book.
