First of all, I don’t usually write reviews for books, because I don’t ever feel the need for my opinion. But, for the book ‘Cryers Cross’ I felt that it I should, for it wasn’t a bad story. Now, I read this book a month ago. I started readingit about four months ago now and during the time i was reading it I was dealing with a lot of loss and anger in my life. The way I was feeling at the time related to this book in ways I never knew would, because the main character in the book is a senior girl who was dealing with the missing of her boyfriend. The character began to break down when her boyfriend went missing and everything that possibly could go wrong did after it. Which I could relate to because when one thing goes wrong, your whole world seems to be crashing down after it. That is how i remember it all going, but i think people should read this book because it is entertaining and can relate to people and what they would do in the situation.
I also feel as though the character struggled with wanting to continue her life after her boyfriend disappeared because it seemed as though everyone wasn’t the same and her life was crumbling. I think everyone can relate to this story one way or another; with loss and trial, hope and depression. Overall dealing with hard times and struggling with change. Life wasn’t easy for this character after kids started to disappear and yet she pulled through with the help of her unlikely friends.
The storyline though had not only an eerie sense but a question that continuously hung on. The question of what would happen next and if everything would be ok. I did not find it scary, but eerie is an understatement. I wanted to know why these things were happening and how it was and who was doing it. Questions that were never really answered until the end. The story definitely keeps you hooked and in a way confused, you are never positive on why the things that are happening are and overall it’s frustrating, but hey that’s what keeps you interested. I also felt that the author developed the relationships between all the characters very well. They were extremely strong and clearly showed their emotions and feelings toward each other.
I truly enjoyed this book. It kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Overall everything was clearly shown and in extremely good descriptions. But, anyway it was a pretty good book beginning to end.

It wasn't what I expected but it's such a good book!
This book is more Mystery to me then anything. But it's still good!
The story makes me sad as the book goes one, I could diffidently feel what the girl was feeling,
all her heartbreak, all her pain, all her tears she cried felt like I was beside her.
So if you like Mystery/horror you should totally give this book a chance! You'll love it!
3.5 stars
The unique plot is dark and eerie, reminiscent of victorian gothic stories. The fear and suspense slow burning but it simmers steady and brings with it a sad melancholy that stays with you through out the book.
The MC's are likeable and it is easy to sympathize with them. I felt chills running down my back at certain points in the book, glad I was not alone in the house.
This is the first book I have read written by Lisa McMann but it will not be the last.
If you enjoy your horror stories big on scary but low on gore and violence then I highly recommend this book.
I’m not the type of person who loves scary movies. In fact, I’m probably one of the jumpiest people you’ll meet. I get startled very easily so as you can imagine by the title, this novel kept me on edge.
Cryer’s Cross by Lisa McMann is a mystery novel with a tiny bit of romance tied in. I enjoyed the story line and the course of events. The author did a very good job of depicting everything that happened and gave it an eerie feeling; and that’s what kept me on edge. The novel was scary, in my opinion, and was a major page-turner! I was terrified but couldn’t stop reading since I needed to know what was going to happen next.
This novel starts with the story of a small town teenager, Kendall, who has OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). This is probably something that most people can relate to. It is believed that everyone has some form of OCD as per Stylist Magazine and Kids Health. For most, it may be very mild, and so everyone should be able to relate, even if just a little, to Kendall at one point or another in the story.
All in all, this novel was one I would recommend, and will probably read again. Sure it was scary at times, but it was well written and told a great story of a small town girl. For those of you who are not a fan of scary novels I recommend reading it anyway, but do it long before bedtime and stay away from graveyards while reading it.
